State Martial Arts is a school for people of all ages. Our purpose is not to
people how to "punch and kick" but to grow to better
themselves and their community.
Martial Arts Improves Your Health, Well-Being, Confidence And So Many
Self Defense does not necessarily mean physically defending one-self
or fighting. It means "self preservation" and protection which
can be internal, or not physical as well....
Our programs teach self defense... both physical and
internal. Physically, you will improve your strength, flexibility, and
overall health. Additionally, you will learn to strike with tremendous
power and effectiveness. While we strongly advocate non-violence and
fighting, should the occasion arise, you should know how to protect
yourself. Internally, you will learn to spot danger and void dangerous
situations and people, places and activities. Martial Arts lessons can
help you avoid the need for a physical confrontation.
Through training in a positive environment and developing oneself both
physically and mentally, you will be encouraged to take chances, to
push yourself further than you ever though possible. The success that
is experienced through our programs teaches the student that they can
be successful at anything if they truly believe they can. Improved confidence
leads to better performance in school and/or work, a better circle of
friends and being able to deal with life's everyday challenges with
a positive outlook.
Increase your endurance! Through Taekwondo, Jiu-Jitsu or whatever program you participate in, you will burn more calories,
build more muscle and in general, get your metabolism kicked into high
gear! Our workouts are a great way to help you shed any unwanted pounds
and reshape your body. Martial Arts training will drastically improve your
cardiovascular health. Your resting heart rate will come down and your
ability to maintain and increased heart rate will increase. You'll breathe
better, sleep better, and even feel an increase in energy and effectiveness
all day long!
Our programs are designed to be positive and inspirational. We'll keep
you motivated and thinking about personal progress and achieving your
goals. Our staff and students are success oriented and focused on looking
for the good in all situations. You can expect to go home after your
training session with renewed vigor and enthusiasm!
Our programs are extensive and comprehensive, yet fun and enlightening.
Our Black Belt Programs are a 3-4 year effort (average) and cover many
different aspects of the arts including realistic self defense and sport
, empty hand combat and training in some of the traditional
weapons of the arts at higher levels. We also conduct other programs
for those who want to learn some tips for everyday self defense but
don't want to pursue an extensive Martial Arts program. Maryland Taekwondo
is about teamwork and dedication.
